Thank you for my Incredible family, my AMAZING friends, a roof over my head and a warm home, food on my table, and everything I have!!

R.I.P. Uncle Jim, you will be missed!!! Though, I am glad you are not in pain any longer!! This football picture is one of my favorites of Uncle Jim!! He lived a long life & has a beautiful family!! James Brady died Monday October 17, 2011 at 12:05 P.M. He had a long struggle with Parkinson's Disease and alzheimer's . I was curious & looked it up:The Florida Citrus Bowl was called theTangerine Bowl between 1947-1975. It was the home field of the Orlando Broncos of the Southern Football League from 1962-1963. Bellow are two songs requested by my cousin/uncle Jim's daughter, Paula. She said he liked Big Big House....Where he can play football:) I like it too!! She said he also liked Audio Adrenaline's Goodbye. |

The Serenity Prayer
Lord, grant me the serenity to
accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and the wisdom to know the difference
Living one day at a time;
enjoying one moment at a time;
accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is;
not as I would have it;
trusting that He will make all things
right if I surrender to His will;
that I may be reasonably happy in this
life and supremely happy with You
forever in the next.
Amen
EXAMPLES OF WHAT MAKES AMERICA A BEACON OF HOPE & LIGHT
THE AMERICAN SPIRIT
DEAD OR ALIVE?
Despite what the media portrays I do not believe the “American Spirit” is dead and gone!! Quite the opposite, I think it is Alive and Kicking Butt!!! Take the last shuttle launch, they had more people show up than ever before!! I was at the previous shuttle launch & it was amazing to watch it go up and see the crowds of people from all over the place!! When we celebrated the 4rh of July, the Birth of America, I saw the American Spirit all over the place! My face book page was peppered in red, white and blue from everyone posting on it!! Some of us even posted patriotic songs and pictures. If you don’t think the American Spirit is alive & kicking go to a local Tea Party or townhall event and you will see it. People are standing up for America & themselves in ways most people would never think of. There is an 11 year old boy in Alaska who is not waiting around for other’s to do something, he is in action! He talked to all the different leader’s in his community and got them together . He is also writing a book. When tornadoes struck all over the country people came to help those in need from neighboring areas and from far away states. The American Spirit to help other’s is alive & strong!! God Bless America:)

Steve Jobs? He was a visionary and a keen marketeer, but not as ruthless as Bill Gates so his products aren’t monopolized. I’ve never seen the need to own any Apple products. i did own a couple of Commodore 64’s and one Commodore 128. Thought AOL was very innovative but management/merger problem(s) in the end. Moved to IBM-compatibles with Microsoft software think i started with DOS 2. Not into music anymore so no need for the I-pod. Don’t even have satellites radio but have thought about it. Steve Jobs was the type of person who made America the Leader and hope we have many more like him to continue to lead the way. Made in China.

A lesson that should be taught in all schools . . And colleges....
Back in September of 2005, on the first day of school, Martha Cothren, a social studies school teacher at Robinson High School in Little Rock , did something not to be forgotten. On the first day of school, with the permission of the school superintendent, the principal and the building supervisor, she removed all of the desks out of her classroom.
When the first period kids entered the room they discovered that there were no desks.
'Ms. Cothren, where're our desks?'
She replied, 'You can't have a desk until you tell me how you earn the right to sit at a desk.'
They thought, 'Well, maybe it's our grades.'
'No,' she said.
'Maybe it's our behavior.'
She told them, 'No, it's not even your behavior.'
And so, they came and went, the first period, second period, third period. Still no desks in the classroom.
By early afternoon television news crews had started gathering in Ms. Cothren's classroom to report about this crazy teacher who had taken all the desks out of her room.
The final period of the day came and as the puzzled students found seats on the floor of the deskless classroom, Martha Cothren said, 'Throughout the day no one has been able to tell me just what he/she has done to earn the right to sit at the desks that are ordinarily found in this classroom. Now I am going to tell you.'
At this point, Martha Cothren went over to the door of her classroom and opened it.
Twenty-seven (27) U.S. Veterans, all in uniforms, walked into that classroom, each one carrying a school desk. The Vets began placing the school desks in rows, and then they would walk over and stand alongside the wall. By the time the last soldier had set the final desk in place those kids started to understand, perhaps for the first time in their lives, just how the right to sit at those desks had been earned..
Martha said, 'You didn't earn the right to sit at these desks. These heroes did it for you. They placed the desks here for you. Now, it's up to you to sit in them. It is your responsibility to learn, to be good students, to be good citizens. They paid the price so that you could have the freedom to get an education. Don't ever forget it.'
By the way, this is a true story. And this teacher was awarded Teacher of the Year for the state of Arkansas in 2006.
Please consider passing this along so others won't forget that the freedoms we have in this great country were earned by U. S. Veterans .

Being American
The last American space shuttle landed earlier this morning, one day after the anniversary of Neil Armstrong’s first steps on the moon in 1969. LIKE this if you are proud of America’s leadership and ingenuity in endeavoring to take “one small step for man, one giant leap forward for mankind.”

Sgt. David Lemcke's remains finally coming home
More than 40 years after U.S. Army Sgt. David E. Lemcke of Hilton was killed in a bunker explosion in Vietnam, his remains are finally coming home. "This final closure feels pretty good, actually," said his sister, Darlene Wallace of Rochester. Her family never gave up their fight to see Lemcke's remains brought back, although their quest to learn the circumstances surrounding his death was challenging. Lemcke, a 1965 graduate of Hilton High School who was drafted in 1966, had been part of a forward advance team in Quang Tri Province, just south of the demilitarized zone that separated North and South Vietnam. His mother was notified in May 1968 that her son was missing in action. A few months later, the family was told that Lemcke was presumed dead, but the details of his death were not divulged. Neither his father, Howard Lemcke, who died in 1973, nor his mother, Elise Lemcke, who died in 1995, would ever learn what happened to their eldest son. It wasn't until the early 2000s that Lemcke's three sisters and brother learned the truth. That's when Don DeLano of Port Huron, Mich., wrote a letter to the Democrat and Chronicle about Lemcke's death. Spurred by finding Lemcke's name on the "still missing" list of a POW-MIA website, DeLano wrote that he had arrived on the scene of the May 21, 1968, accidental explosion that had mortally wounded Lemcke. Although Lemcke's remains hadn't been identified, DeLano said he was told by other soldiers that Lemcke was one of three who died after a soldier accidentally discharged his weapon into a bunker of trip-flares and smoke grenades. DeLano provided the military with details about the location of the bunker. Wallace credited DeLano and the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command at Hickam Air Force Base in Hawaii for locating and identifying her brother's remains. http://www.democratandchronicle.com/article/20111026/NEWS01/110260321/Sgt-David-Lemcke-s-remains-finally-coming-home |
Wounded Warrior Project
Petty Officer 1st Class Christopher Campbell, a Navy SEAL, was an incredible man who lost his life in the August 6th helicopter crash that took the lives of so many American service members.
We were incredibly honored and touched to learn that Chris’ final wish sought to continue serving his country by helping wounded warriors and veterans. Hand-written on Chris’ will was a note saying that if….he died in combat, he wanted attention to focus on his wounded brothers and sisters, rather than himself.
Chris’ ultimate hope was that 100,000 individuals would donate to Wounded Warrior Project in his name. Chris’ family has taken up his mission, and are rallying the country to help make his dream come true as a testament to his memory. Please hellp them achieve his goal by donating today in Chris’ name, even if it’s just $1. http://bitly.com/qHQbqVSee More Wall http://bitly.com/qHQbqVSee bitly.com

Meetup with Rick Allen of Def Leppard
Last night Def Leppard drummer Rick Allen hosted a special behind-the-scenes tour for a group of wounded warriors. The visit also included a concert and one-on-one meetup with Rick, where they talked about life after injury, the process of defining a “new normal,” and of course, rock and roll! More events will be hosted throughout the summer for warriors. Thank you, Rick, and Def Leppard! July 29, 2011

Being American
“By the dawn’s early light” of September 14, 1814, Francis Scott Key, elated that the American flag still flew from the battlements of Fort McHenry, composed a poem to commemorate the battle with the British. Put to music, Key’s poem was first publicly performed in October of that year; however, it was not until 1931 that “The Star-Spangled Banner” became the official anthem for the United States. Like this if your proud to be an American, “the land of the free and the home of the brave.”
